TUFF SUFFOLKS

“TUFF TO BEAT”

BELLE

How the name Tuff Suffolks came about.

Brenna's young Corgi dog named Tuff decided that the sheep are really his sheep and we are just the hired help. Tuff faithfully runs from jug to jug or pen to pen or out into the pasture to check on each and every sheep and lamb. With the decision to take over ownership of the sheep business under his collar the name of Tuff Suffolks sheep business was born.

Tuff turned all his daily sheep duties over to Sadie a border collie. Tuff worked with Sadie to show her the ropes. Sadie is doing fine now. Tuff figured things were in good hands with Sadie, so he is spending the winter down south in Nevada helping Brenna with college classes and working with a horse. Tuff has requested baby lamb pictures to be posted on this web site so he can monitor things and email comments.

Mr. Tuff
Owner
(in his eyes)

Tuff returning to the barn after checking on the ewes and lambs out in the pasture. Tuff reported everything is fine out here.

So you say your going to have twins in the middle of the night during a big snowstorm?  Ok I will try to get the humans out of bed to help you. I am looking to you to give us some championship lambs again this year.

“Listen kid I am the boss around here and that is MR. TUFF to you!

Just do what I tell you to do kid and we will get along just fine. IF you don’t then you better watch out.” Tuff stated

Some days Tuff has to have a discussion about who really is BOSS with one of the sheep. This sheep didn’t think she needed Tuff’s fine guidance in how to get into the corral. So Tuff had to get a little rough with her and remind her just who is the BIG BOSS around here.  Tuff won the argument again and the sheep head to the corral.

Tuff checking the temperature of the nose of a new born lamb after Brenna put a coat on the lamb. Notice that Tuff is also sporting coat in January.

Tuff checking to make sure that Brenna has the lamb all dry and everything is good. Brenna is Tuff’s right hand lady when it comes to lambing. He wouldn’t trust the job to anyone else!

Tuff is back again to check to make sure the lamb is up and walking and doing good. Tuff knows checking lambs frequently in January is important business.

Tuff says” Running Tuff Suffolk is a stressful high pressure job! It is not easy to get sheep and humans to do what you need them to do. They all seem to have a mind of their own one minute and then everyone takes off in the wrong direction and I have to go track them down and bring them back. The humans help sometimes but sometimes they are a pain as well.
So I relax by watching a TV in my favorite chair. When things get boring I watch TV at different angle like upside down.”
Here is a picture of Tuff relaxing after a long day of running Tuff Suffolk. Tuff in command of the remote and watching a little NFL Football. Tuff also like to watch bull riding with Brenna.

Tuff has a slight disability or handicap. He was born in the winter time on a ranch in eastern Montana and his front paw froze so he lost his toenails and little bit of foot. Brenna got Tuff when he was only a few months old. Brenna and Tuff were buddies in a second and go every where together.

Tuff foot isn’t perfect and sometimes after a long hard summer day working his sheep and trying to get those goofy humans to do something right, he needs a ice pack to help his foot. Tuff hates boots because he thinks it slows him down when it is out and about.

Tuff is named Tuff because with a bad foot you have to be tough!                         Tuff is Cowdog and Sheep dog Tough!

Sadie

Hired Hand for now.

But possibly co-owner of Tuff Suffolks in future.

Sadie’s Page

Tuff says “ Don’t forget to check back to our web site to see new baby lambs in middle of January thru May. Also check out Sadie’s page. She will be working for me while I am down south for the winter with Brenna.”

Tuff says go to Herding Rescue Dogs of Wyoming to see if you can help a dog.
